It's difficult for the Australian squad to break new ground.

The top summits have already been conquered.

This is the squad that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to an additional six T20 titles, and once went nearly four years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, those for the peak baggers, are all that remain for a side that has accomplished all there is.

The fact it required as late as Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to complete their first ODI chase above 300, reclaiming their record for the biggest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, honestly, a testament to the bowlers that have sported the yellow jersey over the last half-century.

It is hard for their batters to hold a record if never given the possibility.

In the end, the outcome of Australia allowing 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy receiving a chance to produce her newest gem.

Originally famous as the 19-year-old niece of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her nation failed to win either of the T20 or ODI World Cups held the previous year and has seen it all through 15 championship-filled years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup arrived three months after her debut and seven global championships have come from 10 attempts across formats.

The gritty keeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India briefly halted the successful run.

That loss "pushed us to reevaluate our levels," Healy said this week.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the final and was named player of the tournament. She made sure her country would not fail again.

The question of whether this latest epic knock topped that previous effort is debatable.

Many contend the argument supporting final game tension. Some might respond with the difficulty that comes when confronting a historic chase and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's clear is this ton was much more difficult to anticipate.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 occurred when she was the highest scorer, but this knock came after six matches in India since the start of last month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've been watching me in training, it's been a challenging time because I feel like I lacked timing whatsoever," commented Healy.

"But once you take the field, your competitive instincts kick in and you completely engage with the competition."

Healy's competitive nature has always been her key asset - and a priceless quality in succeeding famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, dismissed by the young fast bowler in all three matches, but here that only provided Healy's inspiration.

A single came off the bowler's initial ball and from there the batsman was on her way.

"An opportunity to take the field and engage in competition with her and simply enjoy myself that way, kind of motivated me," said Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 pitches - her swiftest at the global tournament - and her century in 84 deliveries while she punished short deliveries, hitting 21 fours and three sixes.

Once she was dismissed her side required another 66 at one run per ball - a manageable total now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"To chase 330 is new territory so I'm pleased we have the belief to do that now," stated Healy further.

"Ideally we won't need to repeat it but, should it happen, we are confident we can achieve it."

That comment will be the ultimate thing competing nations at this championship need to hear.

During the last week a belief they will triumph from any situation has grown stronger - this triumph succeeding victory over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite being 76-7 at one point.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a meeting with old rivals England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final berth may well be secure.

During that phase they exited the prior year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a game Healy couldn't play because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she led her country for the first time at a major tournament.

Such is her determination, she afterwards commented she regretted not playing through the pain.

Yet even as she afterwards confessed those physical issues have delayed consideration of ending her career, this championship is expected to be her final tournament as skipper in ODI cricket and she is yet to win a world championship as leader.

Victory in India would bring her to the top of her last major obstacle.
